In today’s society, it is so easy to get distracted because of so many things happening at once that requires our attention. But are they important enough to take us away from who we are? Are these distractions taking us away from fulfilling our goals and dreams or just from enjoying life as it is?
Edmond Mbiaka once said; “the society would never dictate the pace of your life on earth, if you truly know who you are and what you positively stand for."

Today’s society is filled with distractions; Information moves faster and louder than ever
before. Social media has never been so dominant. It pulls our attention and our focus. In this fast moving, attention driven age, we are challenged to choose what, why, where, when, and how we do, move and go! We can’t afford to become robots to those distractions, but better yet, use them to empower and enhance our lives that are filled with potential and greatness.
How can we overcome distraction you may ask. Here are five (5) ways I recommend, you can do so:
1. Put your phone down/limit your time on reading junk mail on social media that doesn’t edify you. Avoid the gossiping sites. Instead, read anything that will enhance your passion in life, and that will motivate you for your day or in your life in general.
2. Give yourself time to just breathe. Take a walk outside; enjoy nature. Meditate. Allow yourself to just be.
3. Now sit down on a couch, on the beach, in the library, anywhere you find the peace and quiet you need to think, and start writing. Write down your dreams, and vision for your life. Make a plan and make it clear. Dream big. Have a plan of where you want to go and what you may need to getyou there. Nothing is impossible if only you believe. Your presence here on earth is no accident. You were intended to be here. Now let’s determine what your contribution will be in this world, and lets get that vision active.
4. Surround yourself with people who share your heart and are going somewhere. Surround yourself with positive people that will motivate you to be your best self even on days when you don’t feel like it. One of the quickest waysto kill your dream is to have the wrong people around you who speaks negatively in your life. The right people always see the best in you even when you aren’t there yet.
5. Go for it! Take that leap of faith, even if you have to give it a couple of tries. But also remember, a great and well thought out plan often brings about great results.
Now that you know that distractions are there just to keep you from fulfilling your full potential, let’s be determined to look beyond them and accomplish that which we set out to do. Let us be purpose in fulfilling who we are really destined to be.
